Today the name Mont Blanc is what we call as equivalent for luxury items of course including the exquisite hand crafted pens. But it hasn't always been making pens all the time. Earlier they were known as Simplo Fuller Pen Company. A very small company from Hamburg Germany as their origin that made simply designed fountain pens, by today's standards accordingly. Very soon after that, a new model was designed and launched and that very pen was the first one that carried the name Mont Blanc. Very soon the authorities adapted that name to their company and hence, the company began to be known as Mont Blanc pens.
Mont Blanc is the name of a mountain that is located in France and therefore the English translation is “White Mountain. The Mont Blanc Star which was launched in 1913 made its debut and is affectionately considered by collectors around the world by the name of Snowflake. In fact, even to this day it's extremely valuable and referred to as one of the most sought after pens. In 1934, while the company continued experiencing growth that was the outcome only due to the expanding popularity which was again because of their high quality product, the decision was made to again change their name to Mont Blanc Simplo.
When the company was sold to Dunhill Corp during the late 90’s, thereafter the decision was made to upgrade their craftsmanship not only to making high end finely crafted pens but also to include the entire company line to a series of other quality crafted luxury products. At the present time Mont Blanc is operated by a name that we call as the Richmond group. This business conglomerate also includes some other familiar and famous names like Cartier and Van Cleef. They have also continued to add new pens to their uniquely growing line of pens and have become well known for the limited edition and collector’s edition pens. The company also gained a well-earned reputation for their incredibly and affordably wide range of prices that included pens that can be found for as low as $250 to all the way up to pens of over $100,000.
